Oct. 7th, 2020 09:03 amThe opening of Atlanta episode 6 really just said "You know that thing called the Bechdel test? What if we pass it with FLYING COLORS," eh
That was a great episode. No wonder it was the first one co-written by a woman.
I am still not sure what to make of the show as a whole though, it has such an unusual vibe. It's mostly a slice of life type show, but then there are really bizarre things happening (like Justin Bieber being played by a Black actor and that whole drug deal in the woods scene being straight out of a modern, more diverse Twin Peaks) so everything feels a little off-kilter. I'm impressed with the acting and the characters are enjoyable, though.
Let's see, spontaneous list of shows I've watched this year:
-Brooklyn Nine-Nine
-The Last Man on Earth
-NewsRadio
-Napoleon Dynamite
-The Dana Carvey Show
-Atlanta
-Assorted SNL episodes
I feel like I might be forgetting something, but IDK. Spin City doesn't count obviously. Recently I picked up some discards from the library which are The Lone Gunmen complete series (it only lasted for one season), and Family Ties seasons 1 and 2, so I'm looking forward to adding those to the list. Once I finish Atlanta, I'm going to start Ozark or maybe The Good Place. I feel like I have to watch The Good Place because so many people love it, but Ozark is what I really want to watch.
