Just a random little late night thought regarding that post I made about WTF movies: I realized that two of those movies (Being John Malkovich and Wayne's World) had something weirdly specific in common, which was that while I spent most of these so-called "comedies" going "what... what am I watching..." instead of laughing, they each had individual scenes that I found SO goddamn hilarious that I had to pause the movie because I was laughing so hard, and I honestly have no idea why I found those scenes so funny. The one from Being John Malkovich is this bizarre job interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSGYElDi38s&list=PL4021D425DFB610CB), which just got stranger and stranger until one single line about filing finally made my brain snap, and the one from Wayne's World is this mockery of product placement (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjB6r-HDDI0&list=PLK5a6X3InfZ_aoJvHLtgWumovXIJPIuVT&index=29&t=0s), which I thought was predictable at first but once it got to the bit about Nuprin I completely lost it.

The only other movie from recent times that I can remember feeling this way about is The Hudsucker Proxy. It's supposed to be a romantic comedy, specifically of the screwball variety, but while I certainly grinned at some of the satire, I didn't find anything laugh out loud funny... except for this one scene of the protagonist's job orientation, which, much like the Being John Malkovich clip, just got stranger and stranger until one tiny detail- "DO NOT FOLD"- set me off in hysterics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eWcii8APsc&list=PLK5a6X3InfZ_aoJvHLtgWumovXIJPIuVT&index=5 It's like, I compensate for not laughing at any of the overt jokes in a comedy by laughing for an embarrassingly long time at some minor detail that probably wasn't intended to be THAT funny.
