between_time_and_42 I always secretly wanted a Livejournal account, but never made one because it was D-E-D dead by the time I discovered it existed, so I guess this is the next best thing?
Anyway, hello to whoever happens to be out there reading this post! I've made this account to follow anyone who might have fled tumblr after recent events, and possibly serve as a tumblr alternative should I eventually find tumblr unbearable. However, I figured it's important to make an intro post for those who might have absolutely no clue who I am (also, I like talking about myself). So, in the vein of my first tumblr post ever, here's my first dreamwidth post ever:
Who: A young woman (or spacegirl, as it says in my bio, for I occasionally fancy myself to be an extraterrestrial being) from America with a downright obsessive love for music- the nonexistent deity's gift to our ears. Those of you who might know my real name can call me as such, but right now I feel uncomfortable publicly interacting on a new site to a new audience so you can call me Blue (my favorite alias).
What: I joined dreamwidth.
When: I made the account yesterday and am currently in the process of making my first post.
Where: I am posting this from my place of residence in the USA, and for now, I'm not getting any more specific than that.
Why: Reasons are stated in the second paragraph above.
How: As I figure, you click "Post" to make posts, and comment on other folks' posts, and basically it's like a text-based regular blogging experience? I'll have to figure this thing out a little more if I want to stick around on this site.
Some quick facts about me:
As mentioned before, I love music! My favorite band is called Punch Brothers and you betcha I'm gonna be talking about them a lot if I keep posting 'round these parts. Their frontman, Chris Thile, hosts a radio program called Live from Here that I'm also probably going to endlessly talk about. Chris Thile once stared into my eyes and talked to me about music production and it was the highlight of my year. I am also desperately in love with David Byrne, who was once the frontman for another one of my favorite bands, Talking Heads. He once thanked me coming to see a concert and it was the other highlight of my year. Finally, I also love U2, who were my favorite band for years before I discovered Punch Brothers. I have been to three of their concerts so far and at least one of them was the highlight of my year...
Other things I love include books- mostly science fiction, especially stories about robots (preferably those written by Isaac Asimov)- and movies, which I cannot pin down to one genre. My OTP is from a movie- Merlin and Harry Hart from Kingsman: The Secret Service- and I will likely post about them fairly often, because I've written a lot of fic about them. (Yes, I'm a fic writer! Here's my Ao3 account for the morbidly curious.)
Currently watching: Nothing except my laptop's screen.
Currently listening to: Nothing, but I have "A Firestorm Consuming Indianapolis"' from the musical God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater stuck in my head- which, now that I think about it, sounds like a Sufjan Stevens title.
Currently sitting on: My bed, where I do my best blogging.
Current thoughts: I need food.
Well, I suppose in that case I should go make food. Hope this has served as a decent introductory post!
