Apr. 15th, 2022 09:25 amJust gotta quickly jot down these thoughts on last night's episode of Atlanta before I go read discussion threads and have everyone else's ideas influence mine:
-Why would Socks take the phone?????? He was only in one episode prior to this so I haven't gotten a great grip on him as a character yet, so I'm not sure yet what his motivation is. But that kind of came out of nowhere for me.
-I'm guessing the nephew character is an actual musician... going to look him up now and see if I recognize the name. (Update: I do not recognize his name, plus he seems to be known primarily as an actor, currently. I don't doubt he's going to drop an indie-folk EP at some point, though.)
-Part of me feels like Darius is becoming Flanderized with his wacky non-sequiturs, but at the same time... I still laugh at them constantly. I love him so much. Wish he'd gotten to go on his magical blueprint adventure, but I feel like his schtick is starting to wear thin even for the characters within the show, so no wonder they had no time for it.
-Darius and Al have such a good dynamic... it's not going to happen in canon but tbh I wouldn't mind reading fic about them...
-Brian *clap* Tyree *clap* Henry *clap* What an amazing actor. His monologue to the nephew and then his reaction to the nephew's song were *A-OK emoji*
-One thing I wish they didn't do is point out certain jokes within the dialogue, like when Socks almost said the n-word and when he called himself a "white Liam Neeson." In both cases, the characters were like "did you just say what I think you said?" and I feel like it would have been funnier if they hadn't mentioned it, so that the viewers can let those jokes sink in.
-Very, VERY worried for Van. She seems to be spiraling and not realizing it.
-This season so far has had such a different vibe from the preceding seasons, and I almost miss the vibe it used to have, but at the same time... it's still such a good show. So different from everything else that's currently on TV.
