Jun. 30th, 2020 07:48 amOkay, this is a super silly addition to my theoretcal Live Action GTA IV Cast, but I just saw a sketch from SNL featuring the Wild and Crazy Guys and I immediately got flashes to Roman Bellic! A slightly younger Dan Aykroyd could definitely play him hahahaha.
Speaking of SNL, I've started watching the early seasons featuring the original cast on Hulu, and I feel like I've been missing out this whole time. Like, I've always been pretty fascinated by the 70's era of SNL- there's some strange mystique it has for me- and to finally see it is really satisfying to me. It's not exactly funny to me all the time, but I love the feel and aesthetic of it (and I've been introduced to so many amazing artists through the musical guests!). Feels a lot different from the stuff I've watched from the early 2000's, which I checked out while getting into Bill Hader's work. I always rolled my eyes at people saying "the original cast is the best, no one comes close!" because I love the 2000's cast too, but now I actually see they might have a point. I love the original cast. (I think it's true, though, that whatever cast is on during your teenage years, is the one you have the most fondness for. Even though I didn't watch it regularly as a teenager, I still enjoy Bill Hader's cast the best. I'm actually kind of annoyed that I took the NBC studio tour at the time when they were still on the show and we saw the SNL studio, but it meant nothing to me at the time. SNL was always "the fake news show" to me in high school, because for some reason whenever I saw it, it was always on the Weekend Update segment. Incidentally, that was also the first time I saw Bill Hader- I remember walking in when he was doing his character Stefon and my parental units being SO CONFUSED, while I was thinking "That guy is hot... but so strange..." and feeling embarrassed that I was apparently THAT thirsty. Fast forward, now that I've seen Barry, those feelings have returned IN FULL FORCE.)
Speaking of GTA IV and SNL together- I know they take place in different universes, but I would LOVE to see Stefon at one of Gay Tony's clubs.
