Mar. 12th, 2020 02:38 pmFucking coronavirus. I've been working really hard the past two months on playing with this band, and we had a show all lined up for next weekend, but now it's been cancelled. Not even because of fear of contamination- just because we all know it's going to be too low a turnout to justify scheduling.
I was already pretty wrecked about that, then it turns out the concert I was supposed to see this weekend- Aoife O'Donovan performing her new EP (which is excellent) with a string quartet consisting of a couple Live from Heroes- has also been cancelled, to be rescheduled for the fall. FUCK. FUCK THIS SO MUCH. I understand the concerns, honestly. And I don't need to rely on live music to be happy. But damn, now I have nothing to look forward to for the month of March, and my friend whose band I'm playing in has been waiting for so long to have this show and it's going to be impossible to build that momentum back up and it hurts me to see her crushed like that, plus I can't help thinking about Aoife and all those touring musicians out there who are losing money right now and... It's really fucking upsetting for everyone. It really is.
I'm spending the rest of the day holed up drinking cider and watching The Hudsucker Proxy, I just can't deal. And I hope everything will feel better tomorrow.
