I just rewatched one of my favorite movies, Memento, and I always have SO MANY THOUGHTS on it, but... I'll refrain. The presence of Joe Pantoliano just reminded me that I never shared my incomplete fan cast for a live-action GTA IV/V movie or miniseries (personally, I think GTA IV could be a movie, and GTA V should be a miniseries). Although it's incomplete, I like writing these things out, so here are my ideas:

A slightly younger Joe Pantoliano as Francis McReary (even though Mr. Pantoliano is Italian and Francis is part of the Irish mob- I just felt like there was a certain similarity in their way of speaking, and Teddy from Memento even looks a little bit like Francis to me)

A slightly younger Shia Labeouf (sp?) as Packie McReary (again, it has more to do with their voices than physical characteristics, but I definitely think there's enough physical similarity to make it work. He's also not Irish, but... ehhhh... this is really just me spitballing ideas here)

Nicolas Hoult as Brucie Kibbutz (this is a pretty bizarre choice, I admit, but I'm straight-up typecasting here based on his role as Nux in Mad Max. He knocked the "kamikrazy War Boy" character out of the park, and I see a lot of similarities with that character and Brucie- Brucie is just Nux minus the sympathetic parts- so I feel like Nicolas Hoult could definitely do it. He'd probably have to bulk up physically for the role though)

Glenn Fleshler as Vlad (he played Goran in Barry, and Goran reminded me so much of the Russian gangsters in GTA. He has more of a physical resemblance to Vlad, but I feel like Vlad might have to be cut or at least conflated with Faustin for the sake of brevity in the storyline, so I don't know if he should play Vlad or Faustin)

I have no one in mind for Niko or Roman, but I feel like they should actually be Serbian (instead of Americans doing godawful accents like in the game. Of course, I'm not familiar with actual Serbian accents so I don't know personally that they're godawful, but they've been critiqued as such by folks who would know.) I also don't have anyone specific in mind for Kate, but I want that to be the point. I'd want her to be a complete unknown, maybe even someone who's not a professional actor. Someone who looks like a normal lady- not drop dead gorgeous, not super thin. Maybe she has acne or stretch marks or she can never get her hair to stay in place or she doesn't wear makeup. Or all of that. I think I probably relate too much to Kate to see a person who's not exactly like me playing her. Huh.

I think for a proper movie, some characters would have to be cut out of GTA IV, but I'd definitely want to keep significant allies like Elizabeta, Little Jacob, Mallorie, etc. It's possible the diamond deal could be the driving event of the whole movie, because I just love how complex that plotline is, although I feel like it wouldn't make much sense at all without the backstory from Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned. (Y'know, I never mentioned those two games on here before, I don't think. Bottom line is, I loved Ballad of Gay Tony, almost more than GTA IV, but I thought The Lost and Damned was uninteresting and I didn't care about any of the characters.)

As for GTA V, ideas for the Holy Fucking Trinity include:

Charlie Sheen as Michael De Santa (I feel like they have enough vocal and physical similarities, but I don't really care for Charlie Sheen as an actor so I might pick someone else eventually)

John Boyega as Franklin Clinton (am I the only one who thinks he looks right for the part? Ehhh...)

Steven Ogg as Trevor Philips (because you can't replace him, like Ellen Greene in the movie version of Little Shop of Horrors)

As for the side characters, I've only thought of two:

Carrie Anne Moss as Amanda De Santa (again, am I the only person who thinks she looks right for the part... and I guess her performance in Memento also reminded me of Amanda, somehow)

John Hamm as Steve Haines (something about the smarminess of his character in Good Omens made me think he could do Steve Haines really well)

That's all I wanted to say, I guess.

I don't care what anyone says about Andy Kaufman (and believe me, I've said plenty of those things myself, or at least thought it, since such a person rarely comes up in casual conversation): this will forever be the funniest thing in the world to me.

I can't watch this without crying from laughter, and I don't know what that says about me.
